Fire call at Antrim park was just smoke

PAT FRIDGEN

A brush fire reported at Antrim Township Community Park at 8:36 a.m. March 7 turned out to be nothing more than smoke. Emergency response units responded to a 911 call.

Pennsylvania State Police fire marshall Jeffrey Sarver said the cause was misguided campers who had left the Martin’s Mill Bridge campgrounds, and did not realize they were on ATCP property. One fire attempt in the nearby woods failed so they moved over and tried to start another. It only smoked.

“It didn’t amount to much,” said Sarver. “The people cooperated fully and made sincere apologies.”

There was no damage to the property.
