Greencastle man arrested for Salvation Army theft
Robert Stokes, 19, 3524 Brook St., was arrested Dec. 7 for his role in a Salvation Army kettle theft the day before. At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a bell ringer was robbed at 49 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg.
An attendant in a motorized wheelchair told Pennsylvania State Police a man took the kettle and fled in a white vehicle driven by another man.
Stokes was taken into custody by Waynesboro police. He was found at 126 Hamilton Ave. He tried to flee, resisted arrest and also tried to grab an officer’s handgun. Police said Stokes was tazed to bring him under control. They found a .38 caliber revolver with his ID and wallet. He was taken to Franklin County Jail.
