A Greencastle man is free on $100,000 bail after he was jailed on multiple charges. George Clopper Jr., 63, 12479 Gearhart Road, was arrested at CVS Pharmacy, 305 W. Baltimore St. on July 25.

According to documents filed with Magisterial District Judge Gary Carter, Clopper became violent after a dispute over prescription medication. He allegedly struck two employees, and when Greencastle police chief John Phillippy arrived, refused to follow directions. Clopper challenged Phillippy and would not calm down or get on his knees as ordered.

Phillippy took out his Taser, after which Clopper allegedly said he had a heart condition and the officer should shoot him in the head. The chief put back his Taser and tried to perform an arrest, but Clopper then hit him in the chest, according to court documents. Phillippy then Tasered him and Clopper fell down.

A second officer arrived and the two handcuffed the suspect. He was taken to Chambersburg Hospital for minor injuries and a check-up, then to Franklin County Jail. He was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault and resisting arrest.
