Greencastle man charged in shooting

Calvin Teachey, 23, Greencastle, admitted to Pennsylvania State Police that he shot a man in the neck during a card game in Mont Alto at 4:09 a.m. Jan. 16.

According to police documents, Teachey went to the residence at 26 Beech St., drank and played cards with a small group. When a brief argument began, Teachey pulled a .22 pistol from his pocket and shot Renard Hazelton, 22. The game broke up and everyone went outside, where others decided to get Hazelton to a hospital. Teachey allegedly fled.

During his interview with police, Teachey said when he raised the gun toward the occupants of the room, it went off. The witnesses were also interviewed.

Teachey was charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, and persons not to possess firearms. He is housed at Franklin County Jail.
