Another theft of copper in the Greencastle-Antrim area was discovered in an unusual way.

Greencastle Police and the Rescue Hose Company Fire Department responded to 30 Orchard Circle at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 for a report of a natural gas leak. It is unknown if the house was occupied, however a for sale sign is in the front yard.

Police said it was discovered that the house had been burglarized and an unknown amount of copper was stolen from the residence. Police aren’t sure when the burglary happened.

In a copper theft several weeks earlier, B & R Electric reported to Pennsylvania State Police that 30,000 feet of copper wire was stolen from a construction site at 14675 Sherwood Drive. That theft occurred between Nov. 26 and 30.

Anyone with information on the burglary should contact Greencastle police at 597-9506.
