People who make at least a $50 donation to Rescue Hose Co. No. 1 will receive a free smoke detector or reflective house number. Displaying the choices are Mike Williams, junior firefighter; Shawn Souders, EMT; and Nicole Gsell, EMT/firefighter. The white signs are used in the Borough of Greencastle, the green signs in Antrim Township.

The Rescue Hose Company No. 1 Inc. mailed its annual fund drive letter to Greencastle-Antrim homes and businesses in early October.

The department’s emergency services call volume continues to increase along with operational costs.  The volunteers are very grateful for the continued support by residents and business owners.

In announcing the annual fund drive, Rescue Hose Company vice-president Shanon Hummer stated, “Our volunteers are dedicated to serving our citizens, visitors, and travelers in the Greencastle-Antrim area 24 hours-a-day.  A new, heavy-duty rescue squad vehicle was recently ordered to replace a 20-year-old vehicle.  In 2010 the company will completely replace the current two-way radio system to be compliant with the new Franklin County 911 Center’s upgrades.

“To support our services for each citizen that contributes a tax deductible donation of $50 or greater a smoke detector or reflective house number will be provided at no charge.”

Hummer further noted, “Since the fund drive was mailed nearly four weeks ago, if our citizens have not considered a financial contribution, please do so and help support our efforts that first began in 1896.”

Tax deductible contributions may be mailed to:  FUND DRIVE COMMITTEE @ RESCUE HOSE CO. NO. 1, INC.  842 South Washington Street, Greencastle, PA 17225
