Recreations organizations get Antrim Township grants

The Antrim Township Park Committee reviewed more than $130,000 in requests for park facilities grants and Tuesday night township supervisors accepted the panel’s recommendations for the $32,000 allocated in the annual program.

On top of the grants, the State Line, Shady Grove and Kauffman Ruritan clubs each get $5,000 a year for their parks.

Any non-profit park or recreational organization that is open to the general public in the Greencastle-Antrim community serving residents of Antrim Township is eligible for the annual park facilities grant program.

This year’s grants went to:

Kauffman Ruritan, outdoor basketball equipment, $2,800

Shady Grove Improvement Association, outdoor equipment and other site improvements, $3,500

Jerome R. King Playground Association, swings, $2,800

State Line Youth League, fencing, $4,800

State Line Ruritan, community building windows, $2,200

Greencastle Area Youth Soccer Organization, goals and accessories, $4,000

Greencastle United Soccer, goals, $2,000

G-A Fastpitch, fencing and field equipment, $3,000

Tayamentasachta, fencing and accessories, $3,400

Greencastle Area Youth Foundation, roofing, $3,500

In other park-related news, supervisors asked Township Administrator Brad Graham to look into the cost and effectiveness of spraying for ticks in some areas of Antrim Township Community Park, including walking trails and the dog park.
