Antrim Township's park barn needs to be repaired

Antrim Township is looking at outside help for repairing the bank barn at the community park.

Roadmaster Mike Condo explained to the board of supervisors last night that companies that worked on such specialty projects were hesitant to give a bid without assurance they would get the contract. He didn't feel qualified to draw up the specifications for the work that needed to be done.

The Park Committee had recommended Antrim hire a firm to present some options on the needed renovations, and prepare the specs.

Antrim administrator Brad Graham supported the idea.

"Many projects we have done in-house," he said. "This case is more specialized than we are used to."

The foundation has already been leveled, Condo noted. Graham said other likely repairs included replacing doors, fixing the walls along the bank, redoing the siding, painting, and perhaps putting cupolas back on.

Board members John Alleman, Pat Heraty, Chad Murray, Rick Baer and Fred Young III decided to table the matter. They wanted to contact people at the local level, as well as other townships that had renovated barns, for any useful information.
