A Greencastle man was killed in a head-on collision Wednesday evening on U.S. 11 in Antrim Township.

Leaman E. Petersen, 76, was pronounced dead at Meritus Medical Center, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police reported Petersen had been driving a 2003 Buick Century north on U.S. 11. The other vehicles involved were traveling south on the same road. John T. Becknell III, 47, in a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, had slowed because a vehicle in front of him had stopped to make a left turn at 12876 Molly Pitcher Highway at 6:51 p.m. Dec. 3, police said.

According to the report, Cody J. Nocton, 20, Waynesboro, was behind him in a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. For unknown reasons he swerved to the left, hitting the rear of the Suburban, and then entered the northbound lane, colliding head-on with Petersen.

Nocton, Petersen, and Petersen’s passengers were taken to the Hagerstown, Md. hospital. The passengers were a 13-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy from Falling Waters, W.Va. They had minor injuries, police said.
