Chambersburg man killed in Antrim Township motorcycle crash
A Chambersburg man driving a motorcycle was killed early Tuesday on U.S. 11 in Antrim Township.
Pennsylvania State Police reported George Merle Stiffler, 55, Chambersburg, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:01 a.m. crash on U.S. 11 at its intersection with South Washington Street.
Police said a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer driven by John James Bilger Jr., 25, of Waynesboro, “failed to proceed with caution at the intersection and began to negotiate a left turn” onto U.S. 11 south. Police said while Bilger was making the turn he failed to see a 2009 Harley Davidson Super Glide operated by Stiffler northbound on U.S. 11. The cycle struck the truck, according to police.
Bigler was not injured, police said.
State police were assisted by the Rescue Hose Co. and the Franklin County Coroner at the scene.
