Greencastle police have M&T Bank robbery suspect

Greencaste police are reporting the man charged in Friday's robbery of M&T Bank in Rouzerville is also a suspect in two armed robberies at the Greencastle M&T Bank in October.

John Raymond Smith, 37, is in the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond after being apprehended by Waynesboro Police after a Friday, Nov. 7, armed robbery at M&T Bank in Rouzerville.

Greencastle police issued a news release Monday morning saying that information developed indicates Smith as the person allegedly responsible for the robberies of the M&T Bank in Greencastle, 632 E. Baltimore St., on Oct. 22 and 31.

Washington Township police have charged Smith. Greencastle police said that additional charges are forthcoming.

The investigation is being led by the FBI.
