Greencastle police release photo of armed bank robber

Police are investigating an armed robbery at M&T Bank along Route 16 in Greencastle near Exit 5 of I-81 Wednesday morning.

The robbery was reported at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday at the 643 E. Baltimore St. branch.

Authorities have released a security camera photo of the robber. Police described the robber as a white male in his 20s. He is shown pulling a handgun from the pocket of his red hooded sweatshirt in the photo.

Greencastle police reported the suspect, who displayed a handgun, left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. The police K9 did track the suspect to the area of an unknown waiting vehicle, police said.

Also assisting in the search and investigation were the Pennsylvania State Police, the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, Franklin County Probation and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Police requested the lockdown of the Greencastle-Antrim schools. The lockdown has since been lifted, according to the school district website.
