A request for federal funds to help with curb and sidewalk work in Greencastle did not make the cut during the allocation by the Franklin County Commissioners.

The Borough of Greencastle had requested part of the county allocation of federal Community Development Block Grants for 2013 for curb ramp installation and sidewalk repair along three blocks of Franklin Street. Requests from around the county totaled $2 million.

Following a public hearing earlier this month, commissioners approved $138,197 for Indian Lake Camp Corporation's water well-house replacement project and $110,000 for Washington Township's Calimer Drive sewer extension project. It is anticipated that construction will begin in 2014.
