WHAT'S GOING ON: With the concrete slab at the train station?

The pink ribbon is gone, but the slab remains, as Garrett Sutton continues to work on his Eagle Scout project.

Troop 99 Boy Scout Garrett Sutton is completing an Eagle Scout project at the highline train station on South Jefferson Street. A concrete slab was poured on the north side. Sutton invited Eagle Scouts and scout leaders to purchase pavers for name recognition, which will be added as orders come in. The area will also get a picnic table.

Mike Bock, board member of Greencastle Area Organized Youth Foundation, which owns the station, said Sutton’s project was large. He also took down trees and planted new, and laid mulch on the property last fall. Any excess funds from the brick sales will be donated to GAOYF.

“It’s a very ambitious project,” Bock said.
