OBITUARY: Clarence Ellis Stahl

Clarence Ellis Stahl, age 90, of Williamson Ave., Greencastle, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at Quincy Village, where he had been a resident since April 3, 2012.

Born Nov. 24, 1921 in Peters Township, he was the son of the late J. Howard and Ruth R. (Gehr) Stahl.

He married Helen L. (Heinbaugh) Stahl June 20, 1945 in Willamsport, Md.

Ellis was employed at the former Anvil Products Co. (now Beck Mfg.) of Greencastle and in his earlier life worked at the former ELM Feeds of Greencastle.

He was a member of the Grace Bible Church of Greencastle.

He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Ellis was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, where he served in the European Theatre.

Surviving family, in addition to his wife, are two brothers, David Stahl, Chambersburg, and Donald Stahl, Fayetteville; one sister, Mary Stahl, Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Fred E. Stahl, on Aug. 26, 1989; and by two brothers, Glenn Stahl and Robert Stahl.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24 from the Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, Greencastle, with Rev. J. Herman Fisler and Rev. John Hoffman officiating.

Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Honor Guard Post 1599 will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday.

Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Building Fund of Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, Greencastle, PA 17225.
