OBITUARY: Donald E. Stone
Donald Eugene Stone, 65, of Greencastle, died Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. June E. Mumma Stone, whom he married Sept. 22, 2011.
Born Sept. 22, 1946, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Lloyd Romaine and Lena Blanche Strait Stone.
He was a 1965 graduate of North Hagerstown High School and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Stone retired from Mack Truck, Hagerstown, Md., where he worked from 1969-2002.
He was an active member of his church, Macedonia United Brethren in Christ Church, Greencastle; and attended Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown; and was very supportive of Antietam Humane Society, Waynesboro.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his step-daughter, Kristina Mumma of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Nicole and Sarah; brothers, his twin Ronald Lee Stone and wife, Darlene, of Waynesboro and Lloyd “Buddy” Stone and wife, Deborah, of Hagerstown; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Daryl Shaffer of Greencastle; and his “babies”, Sammy, Billy and Angel.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his first spouse, Betty L. Stone; and his step-son, Albert “Jay” Mumma.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, from his church, Macedonia United Brethren in Christ Church, Greencastle, with the Rev. L. Ruble officiating and assisted by Rev. A. Paul Harne of Virginia Avenue Church of God. Vocal selections will be offered by Rev. David Grove of Ebenezer (Guitners) United Brethren Church, Greencastle.
Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, Macedonia United Brethren in Christ Church, 11887 Worleytown Road, Greencastle, PA 17225; or to Virginia Avenue Church of God, 17306 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
