Hershey wasn’t the sweetest place Friday night for Greencastle-Antrim High School athletes.

The Blue Devil boys’ basketball team was stunned 64-28 by Berks Catholic in a  District 3-AAA quarterfinal game played at Hershey High School.

A few miles away G-A junior Cody Carbaugh was battling at the District 3-AAA Wrestling Championships in the 106 pound weight class at Hersheypark Arena. After opening the tournament with a win, Carbaugh felt the sting in the quarterfinals by a major decision.

Carbaugh bounced back to win two bouts in the consolation bracket and get to the third-place final. The Blue Devil grappler was edged 5-3 and was denied a state tournament berth by the narrow margin as the top three advanced.

The G-A hoops team will get another opportunity to get into the elusive state tournament in that sport as the top six teams from District 3 advance. The Devils must now play an elimination game against Bishop McDevitt Monday. A win would assure a state berth and put G-A in a game to decide fifth and sixth. The must-win game is set for 6 p.m. at South Western.
