Antrim Township Board of Auditors sets driver wages

It was business as usual for the Antrim Township Board of Auditors on Jan. 4. The annual organizational meeting left chairman Brian Kirkpatrick, vice chairman Mack Neikirk, and secretary William Needy with the same responsibilities for 2012.

The main order of business was to set wages for any township supervisor employed by Antrim. James Byers, Fred Young III and Rick Baer are second-call snowplow drivers, and their rate of pay was kept at the previous year's level, $20.50 per hour.

The mileage reimbursement rate for supervisors using their personal vehicle for township business was raised from 50 cents to 55 cents per mile, to match what the supervisors established for employees. It was just shy of the IRS rate of 55.5 cents.

The auditors agreed to forego payment for conducting the meeting, just as they did last year. They could have collected $10 per hour. They also set next year's meeting for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Needy was re-elected in November for a six year term. Kirkpatrick will serve through 2013 and Neikirk through 2015.
