A new, local fast-pitch softball organization has taken shape within the Greencastle-Antrim  community. The Fastpitch Softball Association of Greencastle will offer recreational fast-pitch softball to girls from 7 to 18 in the Greencastle-Antrim community. The birth of the organization came after the Greencastle-Antrim Baseball Softball Association changed its fast-pitch offerings.

The Fastpitch Softball Association of Greencastle is a newly-formed, ASA-affiliated, non-profilt organization operated by parents, coaches, players, family and friends who are working together to provide quality recreational fast-pitch to the girls of the Greencastle-Antrim community. The organization will not be travel ball and is exclusively fast-pitch.

The Fastpitch Softball Association of Greencastle's purpose is to provide facilities, uniforms, equipment and a safe environment for the girls to continue playing true recreational fast-pitch softball within the Greencastle-Antrim community and within the Chambersburg Suburban League.  All home games will be played at the Shady Grove Community Center fields and the Antrim Township Community Park.

The FSAG will hold community fast-pitch meetings that are open to the public on the first Wednesday of every month. All are encouraged to attend. Volunteers are also welcomed and encouraged to help within the new association.

The association will hold registration for the 2012 season at Tony’s Pizza on South Antrim Way in Greencastle on the following: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7; and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13.
