OBITUARY: Catherine S. Gentile

Catherine Sylvia (Kuchta) Gentile, age 78, of 151 East Side Dr., Greencastle, died unexpectedly at 8:39 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 24, 1933 in Greensburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Vensko) Kuchta.

She married Charles J. Gentile Sept. 2, 1950.

Catherine was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, card playing, traveling and crafts. She showed unconditional love for her family and adored her grandchildren, referring to them as her angels.

She was a member of the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church of Greencastle and the PCCW (Parish Council of Catholic Women) of the church .

Surviving family, in addition to her husband of 61 years, are one daughter, Cathy A. (husband Donald) Barnes, State Line; three sons, Charles D. (wife Sarah) Gentile, Greencastle, Robert L. Gentile, Greencastle and Ronald E. (wife Sheryl) Gentile, State Line; seven grandchildren, Michael Gentile, David Gentile, Jennifer Kerlin, Lori Barnes, Julie Earley, Lisa Fridgen and Nicole Gentile; six great-grandchildren Tristan, Chase, Riley, Austin, Alex and Adam; four sisters, Rose Miller, Latrobe, Mary Morris, Lakeland, Fla., Theresa Greenawalt, Ohio and Josephine Mazzoni, New Alexander.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers; one sister; and two infant sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2 from the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 385 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, with Father Dan Menniti Celebrant and Father Joe Stahura Concelebrant.

Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1 at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. A Rosary service will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
