OBITUARY: Agnes E. “Peg” Stine
Agnes E. “Peg” Stine, age 90, of South Potomac Street, Waynesboro, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 in the Quincy Retirement Home, where she had resided for the past month.
Born Aug. 1, 1921 in Parsons, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Agnes Elizabeth (Mason) Rexroad.
Peg married Glenn C. Stine on Oct. 4, 1941. He died Aug. 25, 2010.
She was a school teacher in the Greencastle-Antrim and Waynesboro Area school districts for 36 years.
Peg was a member of the Grace United Church Of Christ of Greencastle, where she was a member of the Grace Snyder Circle and had sung on the church choir.
She was a former member of the Waynesboro South Chapter A.A.R.P 2977 and served as a volunteer at the Waynesboro Senior Citizen Center.
Peg also enjoyed swimming at the Waynesboro YMCA.
Peg graduated from Aurora High School in Aurora W.Va. and then received her teaching degree from Shepherd College.
Surviving family are one son, Ronald C. (husband of Stephanie C.) Stine, Baldwinsville, N.Y.; two daughters, Carolyn K. (wife of Lawrence E.) Campbell, Hagerstown, Md. and Susan M. (wife of H. Daniel) Bock, Waynesboro; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon Wednesday, Dec. 28 from the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, with Pastor Amy Messler officiating.
Burial will be in the Grindstone Hill Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Wednesday.
