Local voters to elect school board members, supervisors, borough council members
The 2011 municipal election will be held next Tuesday, Nov. 8, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Several races in the Greencastle-Antrim area are contested.
Seven people are vying for five spots on the G-A Board of School Directors. The term is for four years. Candidates are Paul Politis and Linda Farley, who won Democratic nominations; Mike Still and Ken Haines, who will appear on the ballot as Republican nominees; and Melinda Cordell, Eric Holtzman and Tracy Baer, both Republican and Democrat.
For Antrim Township, John Alleman and Pat Heraty won nominations from both parties. Scott Diffenderfer, a Republican, is running as a write-in. Two seats are up for six-year terms.
In the Borough of Greencastle, three four-year seats are open on council. The nominated candidates are Wade Burkholder, Democrat; and H. Duane Kinzer, Frank Webster and James Farley, Republican.
Duane Cunningham is running unopposed for Magisterial District Judge, District 39-3-05, for a six-year term. William Needy is the only candidate for Antrim Township auditor for the six-year position.
At the Franklin County level, four people are running for county commissioner: Republicans Bob Thomas and David Keller, and Democrats Bob Ziobrowski and Garry Gontz. Three four-year terms will be filled.
Row office candidates are unopposed, including Clerk of Courts, Bill Vandrew; Controller, Carol Fix Diller; Coroner, Jeff Conner; District Attorney, Matt Fogal; Prothonotary, Linda Beard; and Sheriff, Dane Anthony.
There are also two statewide judge races on the ballot.
Borough polling places are: Greencastle 1, Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore St.; and Greencastle 2, Greencastle Church of the Brethren, Annex Building, 36 S. Carlisle St.
Township polling places are: Antrim 1, Greencastle Baptist Church, 2377 Buchanan Trail W.; Antrim 2, Kauffman Ruritan Club, 7289 Ruritan Drive; Antrim 3, Shady Grove Community Center; Antrim 4, State Line Community Center; and Antrim 5, Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road.
