Greencastle Veterans Day program is Nov. 11
Greencastle will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
At 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, the event will be held at Greencastle Borough Hall, sponsored by VFW Post 6319 and American Legion Post 373.
“The ceremony is held to remember and honor the men and woman of our armed forces through the centuries, who have come together to fight for a common cause,” said VFW commander Duane Schroyer. “They’ve defended America when our borders, our people and our way of life have been threatened. When others turned away, it was our veterans who were willing to stand up, be counted and put their boots on the ground.”
Legion commander Tony Everetts, speaker Ben Thomas Jr., and pastor Jeff Ehko of Cornerstone Bible Church, will also participate in the program.
All citizens of the community are invited to attend. They are reminded to stand and show proper respect as the American flag passes by. At the conclusion of the ceremony, free food and refreshments will be served at the VFW, 408 S. Washington St.
