A tree dedication ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 to memorialize Brandi K. (Rockwell) Peli, a 2006 Greencastle-Antrim High School graduate. Peli died Aug. 5 in her home in Fort Hood, Texas.

Brandi's sugar maple tree is one of 10 trees lining the walkway between G-A's elementary and middle schools. Her tree is located nearest the middle school. Parking is available at either school.

A small program will commemorate Brandi's life, and a plaque will be placed beneath the tree in her memory. Special poems, Bible readings and songs will be shared by some of Brandi's high school friends during the dedication. Seating will be provided for Peli's family only. Feel free to bring seating, if desired. The dedication will take place rain or shine.

At G-AHS, Brandi was involved in field hockey and track and field, where she participated in the pole vault and javelin throw. She loved nature and being outdoors.

After high school, Peli attended Hagerstown Community College and received a degree in registered nursing. She was employed at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas as a registered nurse. A full obituary for Peli may be found online at

The tree was planted by Darlene Signore's fourth-grade class Sept. 12 as a service project to give back to the community and remember 9/11. Tayamentasachta Environmental Center director, Kerri Barnes, also aided in the project. A tree was also planted in memory of G-AHS 2007 graduate, Kiel Bobbitt, who passed away in 2008.

Brandi's family thanks all for their generous prayers, thoughts, flowers and cards.
