Franklin County has received word on federal assistance in the wake of a season of heavy rains in the area.

The Department of Emergency Services reported that Franklin County has been approved for Public Assistance, Category B, from FEMA.  This means that any costs associated with protective measures related to the storm incurred by a public entity, may be eligible for reimbursement.  This would include such activities as road closures, pumping of water, redirecting run-off and sand bagging.

At this time Franklin County has not been approved for Individual Assistance, which would aid residents in the damages resulting from flooding.

Anyone needing any additional assistance should contact the Department of Emergency Services at 264-2813.
