Greencastle First Friday to celebrate baseball

First Friday is teaming up with downtown businesses and local artists for a fun-filled, baseball-themed event June 3.
First Friday is one evening each month where the downtown shops stay open from 5 to 8 p.m. and get together with local artists, vendors and performers for an evening of entertainment, food and shopping.
The First Friday contest is sure to be a homerun. Pick up a scorecard from the First Friday table on the square and then visit the shops for the information needed to complete the scorecard. Return the scorecard to the First Friday table by 7:45 p.m. for a chance to win four tickets to a Hagerstown Suns baseball game. The drawing will be held at 8 p.m. If the winner is not present at the time of the drawing, the winner will be contacted by telephone and can pick up the tickets at the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours.
This year, First Friday will have wine and beer tastings at each event. This month, Tuscarora Mountain Winery will be featuring their wines at their location, and John Allison Public House will have a few brews to sample in their banquet facility. Highline Coffeehouse & Café will be giving away free fruit smoothies to all visiting scorecard holders and will have live music on the patio.
Instead of cooking that night, consider stop by one of the downtown restaurants for dinner. For a snack, Mrs. Gibble’s will have samples on hand, and for dessert, Mikie’s Ice Cream will be selling sweet treats on the square. Also, Pure & Simple Café will stay open during the event.
The Greencastle Area Arts Council and the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce have invited many wonderful artists and vendors to share their talents. Weather permitting, many of the participants will be set up outside and showcasing photography, jewelry, pottery and handmade soaps. Also, Gallery 7 will be open at 107 E. Baltimore St. and will be displaying the work of even more talented artists from the area.
Music will be in the air on the square courtesy of DJ Ryan Stahl of RS Entertainment.
To round out First Friday, Cindy Blackstock, a children’s storyteller, will be located at Fran Kenawell’s State Farm office on the square. Also, look for additional children’s activities on the square sponsored by The Athlete’s Edge.
