A Volunteer Screening Fair will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 16 in the Greencastle-Antrim

Elementary School gymnasium. No appointment time is necessary and the process will take approximately 15 minutes.

The Board of School Directors passed a volunteer policy April 2006 to protect students during school activities. In an effort to maintain the safest possible environment for our students., the district has also updated its parent lunch policy. Only those adults with an approved GASD volunteer status will be permitted into the cafeterias.

The policy requires volunteers to go through state and federal screenings and complete a tuberculosis examination. Once through the screening process, someone who volunteers once a year does not have to complete the process again.

Currently there are 885 district volunteers.

The one-day activity will help all volunteers complete the necessary paperwork and receive a tuberculosis test. GASD has arranged to cover the cost of the tuberculosis test, which will be given by Summit Health.

A nurse will be on duty Thursday, May 19 to read the tuberculosis test in the elementary school office. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Clearance paperwork can be found on the Greencastle-Antrim School District website under the "Quick Links" section.

Those interested are asked to call 597-3226 ext. 30517.
