With Easter on its way, “Chick Days” came at the perfect time this past week at the Farmers Union Co-op Pet and Farm Supply on Walter Avenue. Now in her third year of helping out the staff with the chicks, Abby Ritondo, 5, of Mercersburg has become an expert “chick girl”. She has just the right hat as she places the chick in their take-home boxes for the customers. Manager Rich Walas said more than 700 chicks were sold last week, mostly in small quantites to families for a project or as a way to raise their own food. The store still has some Rhode Island Reds and Cornish on hand.
