The Borough of Greencastle will conduct its annual bulky item collection from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 6 and from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7.  Bulky items will be collected at the borough maintenance facilities located at 40 West Mifflin Lane.

This bulky item collection will be provided for borough residents only.  Residents will be required to display a valid driver's license or other photo identification to confirm residency within the Borough of Greencastle.

Items to be accepted for disposal and recycling include appliances (including refrigerators), furniture, air conditioners, mattresses, vehicle batteries, propane bottles, electronics and other bulky items which are difficult to discard.  Tires 17 inches or smaller will be accepted for a fee of $3 per tire.  All other items are accepted at no cost.

Prohibited items include any liquid or hazardous materials, normal household waste or trash (even if bundled in large bundles), trees/brush, leaves, grass clippings, fencing or construction demolition materials. No commercial or industrial waste or items will be accepted. The borough reserves the right to refuse any item which it deems unsuitable for bulky item collection.

Borough residents are encouraged to use this opportunity to dispose of accumulated bulky items which may have been stored in outdoor areas where they are visible and may not comply with the borough's nuisance ordinance. Council President Charles Eckstine noted, “This is a great opportunity for everyone to discard unused and unneeded items and to help keep the borough a clean and attractive place to live, to work and to visit.”
