Mercersburg Area Community Chorus begins spring rehearsals
The Mercersburg Area Community Chorus will begin rehearsals for its spring concerts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, with rehearsals continuing throughout the spring on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. at the James Buchanan Middle School.
The chorus, accompanied by full orchestra under the direction of Richard Rotz, will present spring concerts on April 9 and 10 at the Mercersburg Academy Chapel.
Music for the April concerts will consist of Haydn's The Creation and a work newly commissioned for the chorus by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo.
Adults and high school students interested in participating should call the 717-328-2324. No auditions are required to join the chorus, and persons of all levels of musical training make up the group.
Founded in 1975, The Mercersburg Area Community Chorus performs two series of concerts each year, and will feature over 100 singers from the tri-state region at the April concerts.
