Collection in Greencastle heads to soldiers

A collection for Southern Washington County Military Support Group was loaded onto a truck Monday, Nov. 22 at WAYZ in Greencastle. Founder Lynn Jones said this is the eighth year area residents wrote cards and donated personal items, snacks and other supplies for troops actively deployed. The contributions will be sorted over the weekend and at the post office Monday. Jones expected the boxes to be in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Korea within the week. The holiday packages were destined for 110 units, including her two sons this year. Helping out were, from left: David Rawley, Tyler Shank, Hannah Vann, Jason Schaffer and Kyle Mellot.
