Crews hired by Greencastle Area, Franklin County, Water Authority are activating Well No. 4, which it purchased from the Greencastle-Antrim School District. The well is across Leitersburg Road from Tayamentasachta and will provide greater capacity for the water authority.

A new gravel driveway off Leitersburg Road near Interstate 81 leads to a construction site for Well No. 4. The Greencastle Area Franklin County Water Authority purchased 4.36 acres from the G-A School District in March 2010. It used part of a $520,000 DCED grant awarded through federal stimulus funds in 2009 to pay $187,000 for the property. General contractor Eichelberger Construction, Mechanicsburg, was hired to install a pump and run new pipe to an established line along I-81. Electrical work is underway by Psi Pumping Solutions Inc., York Springs. GAFCWA manager Kenneth Womack said the well would increase the water capacity for the authority. Work began in July and should be completed by Feb. 8.
