School board covers business quickly

In a short meeting Sept. 16, the Greencastle-Antrim School Board revamped a policy, pared food service job descriptions and made plans for a fact-finding trip.

After discussion at several meetings, a new public comment policy was adopted. The stipulation that a citizen must obtain permission from the superintendent to address the board on non-agenda items was dropped. The language now allows citizens to speak for three minutes each, with a limit of seven presentations per meeting. The previous time allotment was five minutes per person.

The number of job titles in the food service department was reduced from 11 to four. The new titles are kitchen manager, assistant kitchen manager, kitchen worker I and kitchen worker II.

The board also made arrangements to visit two turf athletic fields on Sept. 18, to discern the feasibility of incorporating artificial turf into Greencastle's athletic complex at some point during the renovation project.

The meeting adjourned into executive session to discuss personnel.
