A Greencastle woman was killed Thursday morning, Aug. 26 when the motorcycle she was riding was backed over by a dump truck in Antrim Township.

Pennsylvania State Police reported that Vickie Louise Morrison, 48, of 3060 Sportsman Road, was pronounced dead at 8:20 a.m. by Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner at the scene of the accident that happened at 7:32 a.m. on the business lot entrance at 110 Commerce Ave.

Conner has ruled the death accidental and attributed it to multiple blunt force trauma.

Police said that a 1998 Volvo Nacarato dump truck driven by Clifford Sims of Martinsburg, W. Va. was traveling west of Commerce Ave. and stopped in the middle of the lane when he missed a left entrance to a construction site at 104 Commerce Ave.

According to the police report, Sims checked the side view mirrors and then put the truck in reverse and backed up. Police said Sims did not see or know that Morrison was on a 2007 Suzuki Gz 250 behind the truck and backed over the cycle and the driver, which were trapped under the rear wheels of the dump truck.

Police are continuing their investigation.

Morrison was a 1980 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and a 1994 graduate of Hagerstown Business College. She worked at Jerr-Dan, Greencastle, and was active in  Greencastle Sportsman Club functions. She enjoyed boating, riding her motorcycle and spending time with her dog.

Morrison is survived by her mother, husband, son, brothers and nephews and nieces. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31 in the Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle.
