First Friday embraces OHW celebration Aug. 6

On Aug. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m., First Friday Greencastle is embracing the Old Home Week spirit with its first ever “Home Sweet Home” pie baking contest.

The contest is sponsored by Tower Bank and will be held on the square. For information on how to enter, look for the entry form at most downtown shops or visit the First Friday website at

In addition to bragging rights, the first place winner will have his or her pie featured on the Antrim House menu for a limited time and receive $50 and an embroidered apron commemorating the event. The second place winner will receive $25 and an embroidered apron. The third place winner will receive an embroidered apron, and all participants will receive a reusable First Friday grocery bag. The remaining pies will be sold whole or by the slice at the Boy Scout concession stand on the square.

Also, Roy Pitz Brewery will be returning to the Antrim House for a beer tasting, many new and returning artists will be showcasing their artistry, the downtown merchants will be open for business, and the Rolling Coyotes band from Shepherdstown, W.Va. will be performing live on the square.
