Pie baking contest comes to First Friday

Greencastle’s First Friday in August will feature a pie baking contest.

The festivities will coincide with Greencastle-Antrim’s Old Home Week celebration on Friday, Aug. 6.

The winning pie will be featured at the Antrim House Restaurant for a limited time.

The official rules are as follows:

1. Submit the entry form to the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce by July 31.

2. Two pies must be submitted for each entry.

3. A recipe must be submitted with each entry. Include the source if it is not your own.

4. Pies must be submitted in disposable tins.

5. Pies must be made from scratch-no store-bought pies, crusts, or fillings.

6. No pies that need refrigeration will be accepted.

7. Pies must be baked by the individual submitting the entry form.

8. No professional bakers, please.

9. Contestants agree to have their names, photos, and recipes published and used without compensation as deemed by the First Friday Committee. All pies become the property of the First Friday Committee.

10. A committee member will contact registered contestants with additional contest details, such as drop-off location, judging criteria, and so on.

11. The decision of the judges is final.
