Halloween parade seeks entries
The annual Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Greencastle Exchange Club, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.
Registration is free and will begin at 6 p.m. in the Jerome R. King Playground's southern-most pavilion.
Prizes will be awarded in four costume categories: individual; group up to 10; group over 10; and float. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three in each category.
The parade route will stay the same as previous years. From the south end of the playground, the parade will follow South Carlisle Street to the square and turn east onto Baltimore Street. At Allison Street the procession will go north to Walter Avenue and then west to Carlisle Street before ending at the north end of the playground.
Free hot chocolate and cookies will be provided at the end of the parade in the playground’s northern-most pavilion.
Prizes are being sponsored in part by M and T Bank.
Additional lighting along the parade route will be donated by Valley Quarries, Chambersburg.
The judging platform will be donated by Danco Products, Greencastle.
The Borough of Greencastle has set 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 as Trick or Treat night. Residents who wish to participate should turn on their porch lights.
