Wilbur B. “Bud” Marshall was honored Monday, Dec. 7, by Greencastle Borough Council for his longtime service on the Shade Tree Commission.

President Charles Eckstine told him, “The fruits of your labor will be enjoyed for generations to come.”

Marshall said he and his wife June moved to Greencastle by choice in 1953.

“God had blessed Greencastle-Antrim and we wanted to be part of it.”

He thanked council for its support through the years.

The plaque he received read, “For Dedicated Service and Commitment the Borough of Greencastle Recognizes W. B. Marshall II, A long standing volunteer, leader and servant on the Borough of Greencastle Shade Tree Commission. Presented this 7th Day of December 2015 By Greencastle Borough Council & Mayor Eberly.”

Robert Eberly proclaimed April 29, 2016 as Arbor Day. He asked that all citizens “plan for celebrating Arbor Day by supporting efforts to protect our trees and woodlands and to acquaint themselves with the work of the Borough’s Shade Tree Commission as well as plant and care for trees to promote the well-being of this generation and those to come.”
