Memorial Day to be observed in Greencastle-Antrim

The annual Memorial Day observance for the Greencastle-Antrim community will be held Monday, May 25, sponsored by Greencastle American Legion Post 373 and Greencastle VFW Post 6319.
The parade through Greencastle’s main street will begin at 10:30 a.m., and participants should gather at 9:30 a.m. on Allison Street at the Baltimore Street intersection. The procession will march through town to Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Units will include a wagon for veterans unable to walk the distance, veteran organizations, the Greencastle-Antrim High School band, the fire department, majorettes, and floats.
At the cemetery rostrum local resident Ronnie Shaffer will be the featured speaker. The program will start at 11 a.m. Shaffer, a Vietnam vet who served in the Marine Corps, will be joined by the band, which will play the Star Spangled Banner and Taps.
Afterwards, refreshments will be available at the American Legion, hosted by Legion commander Rudy Freshman, and VFW commander Joyce Fye.
