CHAMBERSBURG — The Franklin County Department of Emergency Services is offering CPR courses for citizens at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month starting Jan. 14 at 390 New York Ave.

To register for this course, or to request a course at your facility call 717-264-2813.

Why take CPR?

• Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in adults, accounting for 325,000 deaths annually in the United States.

• A treatment delay of four to five minutes decreases survival rates by as much as 40 percent.

• 85 percent of all cardiac arrests occur either at work or at home.

• Prompt, effective administration of CPR/AED and first aid can mean the difference between life and death.
