Evening tribute to veterans planned in Greencastle
The Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, VFW Post 6319 and American Legion Post 373 are sponsoring “An Evening Tribute to Veterans” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the Greencastle-Antrim High School auditorium.
The program will feature music by the Greencastle-Antrim Middle School band and choir.
The guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Joe Ignazzitto, who is an active duty Army Reserve officer. He is currently assigned to the Carlisle Barracks as a resident student at the US Army War College. His military career started in 1986. He has served in a myriad of operational and staff assignments including Operation Joint Guardian, the Kosovo Campaign, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
“The liberties and freedoms we enjoy today are built on the generations of people who served in the military,” said Joel Fridgen, chamber executive director. “Veterans are part of the tradition we recognize that make Heritage Christmas special. We appreciate their sacrifices and honor them with this tribute. All veterans are encouraged to attend and be recognized.”
Heritage Christmas committee chairperson, Lisa Cesa of F & M Trust added, “We hope the people in our community, as well as the surrounding area, will take advantage of having another forum to support and appreciate the veterans in our area.”
There is no admission fee.
