At the Rotary Club Christmas party, the club presented a Paul Harris Fellowship award to past president Kim Robinson (center), shown with Julie Statler (left), club treasurer, and Becky Hissong, current president. The award is named for Paul Harris, who founded Rotary with three business associates in Chicago in 1905. The fellowship was established in his honor in 1957 to express appreciation for a contribution of $1,000 to the humanitarian and educational programs of the Rotary foundation. The local Rotary Club made the contribution in honor of Robinson in appreciation for the ways her life exemplifies the humanitarian and educational objectives of the foundation. During the time of her presidency the club worked on several new fundraisers, which allowed the club to provide needed funds to many local charities. The club also began a program of members reading a Dr. Seuss book to each kindergarten class and then presenting a book to each classroom library. The club also provided a dictionary to each third-grade student. The club meets at noon Mondays at Casey's for lunch. Visitors are always welcome.
