Conococheagye Institute to hold annual Christmas Open House

Conococheague Institute Museum and Library will hold its annual Christmas Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at 12995 Bain Road, Mercersburg. “All buildings, including the 1752 Davis Chambers Farm House, the 1810 Negley log cabin and the Welsh Barrens Visitors Center, will be decorated and open for tours,” according to Debra Taylor who is the Institute's president of the board of directors. “Students from local schools and homeschool groups come to our Rock Hill Farm site to help make the decorations,” Taylor said. “The students along with other volunteers do a wonderful job helping us get ready for Christmas,” she added. Re-enactors will be in each of the buildings assisting with the tours and playing 18th century Christmas music. Light refreshments will also be served. There is a gift shop available located in the Welsh Barrens Visitors Center.
