Former Leo Club member receives award

Lance Miller received a Leo of the Year Award for his work with the G-A Blue Leos Service Club.

Lance Miller received a Leo of the Year Award for his work with the G-A Blue Leos Service Club. The G-A Blue Leos Service Club is sponsored by the Greencastle Lions Club in District 14-T.

The Pennsylvania State Council of Lions Clubs presented the Leo Founders Award to Lance Miller as the District 14-T Leo of the year for 2009-2010 for his outstanding service and achievements in his club and community. The award was presented at a Lions District cabinet meeting Sept. 12 by District Governor Joann Williams. Miller was recommended for the award by Past District Governor Dalton E. Paul.

Miller served as president of the Leo Club in his senior year in high school and received the 100 percent President’s Award. Miller also served as vice-president, secretary and treasurer of the Leo club in past years and worked on service projects including selling items at the fall apple festival for the school district and wrapping gift boxes for a local food pantry, raising money for diabetes, playground cleanup and Lions pancake breakfasts. Miller received a gold and silver certificate from Lions Clubs International for the Lion’s Young Leaders in Service Awards, having performed over 200 hours of community service.

Miller is an Eagle Scout with Troop 99, a member of the Order of the Arrow, a member of  Venture Crew 99 and is presently a student at Shippensburg University. Miller is the son of Darrell and Suanne Miller, members of the Greencastle Lions Club and Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club, respectively.
