One of the first events to be held as part of Old Home Week will be the judging of the displays set up in storefront windows in downtown Greencastle. The judges will make their rounds on the morning of July 31 — the first day of the triennial Greencastle-Antrim celebration.

Judging will be conducted by the members of the Window Display Committee: Sandra Daniels, Bill Gour, Michelle Hummer, Donna Lang, Ginny Lays, Bob O'Connor and Sharon Ruppenthal.

There will be a first and second place finisher in each of six categories, as well as an overall winner, with prize money being awarded in the amount of $100, $50 and $100, respectively.

The six categories are: History; War; Household Items; Toys and Games; Education and Transportation.

“This is a unique opportunity for folks to get actively involved in Old Home Week.  It is also a nice promotional venue for the participating merchants and artists.  The displays draw large numbers of spectators into downtown during Old Home Week” said Bill Gour, the committee chair.

Anyone wishing to enter a display must register by July 24.  Windows will be assigned by the committee on a first-come, first-served basis.  Participants may request particular windows, but there is no guarantee of availability.
