Dolly Shoemaker, as chairman of the Old Home Week Flower Show, was tickled that her first attempt at dahlias was so successful. A couple bulbs produced blooms in the 10-inch range. The Flower Show features judged exhibits in artistic design, using fresh and dried flowers. Other divisions include table arrangements, miniatures, potted plants, hanging baskets and horticulture specimens. The public may view the displays on Monday, Aug. 5 from 1 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
