G-AHS band presenting concert this evening
The Greencastle-Antrim High School Instrumental Music Department will present a band concert on Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.
Opening the program will be the newly-formed String Ensemble, conducted by Amanda L. Bietsch. The four-member ensemble will perform “Ridaudon” and “Hornpipe” from Handel’s “Water Music Suite” as well as “Habanera” from Bizet’s “Carmen”.
Following the String Ensemble will be the Concert Band under the direction of Samuel B. Forney. The 90-member band will perform “Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo,” “Selections from Miss Saigon,” “Florentiner Marsch,” “Appalachian Legacy” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.” Featured student conductors will be Carly Hafer, Kayla Starr and Caleb Eberly.
The program continues with the Jazz-Rock Ensemble, also directed by Forney. The 19-member group will offer, “Birdland,” “One More Time Chuck Corea,” “Sing, Sing, Sing” and “Land of Make Believe.”
Concluding the program will be the Winter Percussion Ensemble performing their indoor show, “Where the Rivers Meet.“
