Spring Fling raising funds for library
The Capital Campaign Committee for the Lilian S. Besore Memorial Library will host the third annual Spring Fling Thursday, March 14, at Green Grove Gardens in Greencastle. The doors will open at 5:30 to celebrate the beginning of construction and the 50th anniversary of the opening of the library on East Baltimore Street.
The evening will begin with a time to visit with others and to view the many items that will be part of the silent and live auctions. The Friends of the Library will again host the Tuscarora Mt. Winery, which will offer samplings of their wines and, for a donation, will help the support group offer a variety of their products. Trickling Springs will also be on hand during this time with some artisan bread and cheese, adding their own butter to be sampled.
Local restaurants are again giving their support to the library with foods to be tasted and enjoyed. Those eateries include The Café at Antrim Way Honda, Mikie’s Ice Cream & Green Cow Gifts, John Allison Public House, Highline Restaurant & Railway Lounge, Sweet Pea Dessert, Mountain Gate Family Restaurant and Mrs. Gibble’s Restaurant. Two new businesses will add to the evening as The Baker’s Nook and El Sombrero offer their unique foods.
The annual fundraiser has grown each year and has proven to be a wonderful evening for those attending and for those helping to raise money for the many programs and activities offered at the library.
A unique, carved cane crafted by Sam Horst has been donated to the organizers for the night of the celebration.
Live music will add to the evening as “Double Trouble”, with classical guitarist Tim Hellane, plays during the social and dinner.
Blaise Alexander Chevrolet Volvo will provide a shuttle service to and from the parking lot at Green Grove Gardens before and after the event.
