At last the El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant opened Tuesday, April 24 at 25 W. Franklin St. Signs went up last fall announcing the coming of the Mexican eatery and passersby have been patiently waiting since for the opening in the space previously occupied by Bentley’s. The staff includes, from left: Francisca Fernandez; Lupe Ortega; general manager Ramiro Fernandez, who grew up in Mercersburg and now lives in Hagerstown, Md.; Irene Ortega; Daniela Ayala; Roy Carvajal; and Rosa Martinez. The only exclusively Mexican restaurant is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. There is sit down eating and takeout available.
