Stony Batter Players presenting "Into the Woods"

Stony Batter Players, Mercersburg Academy's student theatre company, will present its 2016 winter musical, Into the Woods, Feb. 7 in the Burgin Center for the Arts’ Simon Theatre with a 2 p.m. matinee performance.

The ensemble student cast features Caroline Casparian ’16 as the

Narrator, Thomas Miller ’16 as Jack, Grace Bennett ’19 as Jack’s

Mother, Zach McDonald ’17 as the Baker, Katarina Johansson ’16 as the

Baker’s Wife, Ava Paul ’18 as Cinderella, Clare Liss ’18 as

Cinderella’s Step Mother, Elma Hoffman ’17 as Florinda, Julia Mitchell

’18 as Lucinda, Will Schoenberger ’17 as Cinderella’s Father, Addie

Dumm ’18 as Little Red Ridinghood, and Katherine Reber ’17 as the

Witch.

Laurie Mufson (Mercersburg’s director of theatre) is directing the

production, which features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and is

based on the book by James Lapine. Director of Technical Theatre Steve

Crick is the set and sound designer, Kelly Dowling (assistant technical

theatre director) is the prop designer, and Walt Dowling is the lighting

designer. Richard Rotz (the school’s director of music) is the show’s

musical director, while James Brinson is vocal music director and Lindsay

Owen is the vocal coach.

Following the musical, the next and final Stony Batter Players production

of 2015–2016 will be the annual renewal of Shakespeare Scenes. That

performance is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in the Boys’

Garden.
